A Journey to Deliver the Goodness of Godavari
SVR Gaia is a family run company currently into the third generation. It all started in the 1940’s when the family was farming chillies and Tobacco on the banks of river Godavari. The family setup one of the first Rice Mill in East Godavari and later on moved into Agri Trading and finally into Rice Bran oil.
Our Philosophy
From the very beginning the family has believed in the betterment of the farmers and the community. We work very closely with Farmers and Rice Mills who are both our valued suppliers as well as consumers. Many of the relationships are as old as the business and are built for a lifetime.

This ancient Sanskrit verse is a testament that the Godavari has been considered one of the most sacred and prominent rivers of India from time immemorial. Godavari Delta region is considered the land of hidden treasure, and one of the gems it produces in abundance is- rice.
Legends have it that a revered sage initiated rice cultivation at the banks of Godavari for the pious practice of Annadanam (giving away food to the needy). Since then, rice cultivation has been an integral and almost inseparable part of the regions through which the Godavari flows.
SVR Gaia cherishes the virtues of the Godavari that are the very source of rice production in this region. It brings the goodness of Godavari to the food you eat through rice bran oil.
In Harmony With Nature
Sowing
Paddy, a semiaquatic crop, requires fertile land and plenty of water. The Eastern Godavari delta region is perfect for paddy cultivation.
Rice is grown twice a year, once at the end of summer and the second in winter. Some of the best varieties of paddy like Swarna, Bondam and Sonamasuri are grown in Godavari Delta.
Farming
It takes about four months for the crop to be harvested. In the ensuing period the crop has to be very closely monitored.
Mainly it is susceptible to pests and weeds. Water management is also very critical, too much of water can carry away the nutrients and too less can wither out the plant.
Harvesting
After four months the paddy field is dried out completely. Paddy is hand-cut, threshed and winnowed to get the best quality rice grains.
Harvesting is more like accepting the prasadam offered by the Godavari with gratitude-filled hearts.
